Yes to Seeds

Deadline: May 31, 2011
Yes to Seeds seeks to give kids a fun and engaging ways to connect with Mother Nature, and teach them to lead healthier lifestyles. A portion of sales from all "Yes To" products goes back to the Seed Fund, and used to give grants to schools to plant gardens!

Five schools will be selected to receive a $500 'Starter Seed Fund Grant' to help them on their way to a school garden. Recipient schools can choose how they use these Seed Fund Grants to create the garden of their dreams! All K-12 schools are eligible to apply for a grant.

NEA Foundation-Nickelodean Big Help Grants

The NEA Foundation-Nickelodean Big Help Grants provide $5,000 Student Achievement grants to K-8 public school educators. The grants aim to help develop a sense of global awareness in 21st century students that will encourage and enable them to make a difference in their world. The grants target the areas of environmentalism, health, wellness, students' right to quality education and community involvement.

Kodak American Greenways Award Grant

Do you know an organization that is working to create or improve a greenway, trail or waterway? Apply for a Kodak American Greenways Award grant, and your organization could receive up to $2,500 in grant funds and recognition that comes with selection by this prestigious national program.

Tom's of Maine 50 States for Good Grant

50 States for Good is a national initiative to support the goodness behind grassroots community projects. Six organizations will share in the $150,000 sponsorship fund, including one organization that will be given $50,000!

Native Plant Conservation Initiative

Deadline: June 30, 2011
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is soliciting proposals for the 2011 Native Plant Conservation Initiative (NPCI) grants cycle. Since 1995, the NPCI grant program has funded multi-stakeholder projects that focus on the conservation of native plants and pollinators under any of the following 6 focal areas: conservation, education, restoration, research, sustainability, and data linkages.

Leave No Trace: Connect Grant for Culturally Diverse Communities

Deadline: August 1, 2011
Connect Grants are intended to provide Leave No Trace education and outreach to diverse communities. Preference is given to educators and community leaders working with culturally diverse populations. Organizations, agencies and schools actively serving these communities are also encouraged to apply.

Green Works! Grants

Deadline: Fall 2011
GreenWorks! is the service-learning, community action program of PLT that partners PLT educators, students, and communities in environmental neighborhood improvement projects. GreenWorks! blends service activities with the academic curriculum and addresses real community needs as students "learn by doing."

Nebraska Environmental Trust Grant

Deadline: September 6, 2011
The Trust especially seeks projects that bring public and private partners together corroboratively to implement high-quality, cost-effective projects.

The Trust sets funding category areas for five-year periods, in a process involving members of the Nebraska public and conservation communities. Until July 2015, the Trust will consider funding proposals in the following priority areas: Habitat, Surface and Ground Water, Waste Management, Air Quality, Soil Management.

Green Thumb Challenge

Deadline: September 30, 2011
The Green Thumb Challenge from the Green Education Foundation (GEF) aims to connect children with nature and the healthy benefits of gardening. GEF provides schools and youth groups with beginner-friendly resources to plant gardens of any size, in addition to fun activities and standards-based lessons linking the classroom to the garden. All participants have the opportunity to be awarded a $5,000 grant in recognition of their garden project.

Lawrence Foundation

Deadline: November 5, 2011
The Lawrence Foundation is a private, family foundation focused on making grants to support environmental, education, human services and other causes. It awards both program and operating grants, with no geographical restrictions. Nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or similar organizations are eligible to apply.

Cedar Tree Foundation Grants

The Cedar Tree Foundation makes grants in the following areas of concern: environmental education, environmental health and sustainable agriculture. Particular consideration is given to proposals demonstrating strong elements of environmental justice and/or conservation within the program areas listed above. RBC Blue Water Project Community Action Grants

The RBC Blue Water Project is a 10-year, global commitment to help protect the world's most precious natural resource: fresh water. The centerpiece of the project is a $50 million grant program that awards watershed protection grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Kinder Morgan Foundation Grants

Deadline: the 10th of every other month, beginning in January.
The Kinder Morgan Foundation supports nonprofit youth programs focused on education, the arts, and the environment. Grants range from $1,000-$5,000.

Waste Management Charitable Giving

Norcross Wildlife Foundation Grant

Deadline: ongoing
The Norcross Wildlife Foundation supports grassroots organizations in the U.S. working to protect wild land. Grants averaging $5,000 are provided primarily for program-related office and field equipment and public education and outreach materials. The Foundation also provides no-interest loans to acquire land prioritized for conservation. Applications may be submitted at any time.

Toshiba America Grants for Enhancing Math and Science Education

Deadline: K–6th grade program grants are due October 1. 7th - 12th grade program grants are due February 1 and August 1.
Toshiba America grants up to $5,000 for 7th-12th grade teachers and up to $1,000 for K-6th grade teachers for enhancement in science and math education.

NAS Mini-Grants

The Nebraska Academy of Sciences has a grant program offering mini-grants of $200 to $2000 for travel and equipment. These grants are available to K-12 teachers as well as college and university students and professors.

Do Something Weekly Grants

Deadline: weekly
Did you recently create a sustainable community action project, program or organization or have a great idea for helping your community? Do you need $500 to further the growth and success of your program or turn your idea into reality? If you answered, “YES!”, you are eligible to apply for a Do Something Grant. Over the course of 2009, 52 $500 Do Something Grants will be awarded. To be eligible, the applicant must be 25 years old or under and a U.S. or Canadian citizen, Do Something Grants cannot be used to fund: travel costs, individual sponsorships, shipping costs, individual school fees, or fundraisers.

Digital Wish Grants

Deadline: Ongoing. Grants are awarded on the 28th of every month.
Digital Wish offers 43 different grants for digital camera hardware and software for your classroom. To apply, register your classroom at Digital Wish and enter a lesson plan. All teachers who submit a lesson plan on Digital Wish will be automatically entered to win a Mobile Digital Camera Lab plus as many as 43 technology grants.

Captain Planet Foundation

Deadline: Ongoing. Applications reviewed the last day of March, June, September, and December.
Captain Planet Foundation awards to encourage children worldwide to solve environmental problems in their communities. Awards are between $250 and $2,500 for schools and nonprofit organizations that develop innovative environmental projects for youth that promote cooperation, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Pay it Forward Foundation offers mini-grants (from $50 to $500) to fund service-oriented projects designed by youth to support their school, neighborhood, or greater community.

Annie's Grants for Gardens

Deadline: Throughout the Year
Annie's offers a limited number of small grants to community gardens, school gardens and other educational programs that connect children directly to gardening. These funds can be used to buy gardening tools, seeds or other needed supplies.

Ben & Jerry's Foundation

Deadline: Throughout the Year
The Ben & Jerry's Foundation offers competitive grants to not-for-profit, grassroots organizations throughout the United States which facilitate progressive social change by addressing the underlying conditions of societal and environmental problems. The Foundation will only consider proposals from grassroots, constituent-led organizations. Full grants range from $1,001 - $15,000 and throughout the year, the Ben & Jerry's Foundation may fund a small number of material grants for $1,000 or less. The application process to the Ben & Jerry's Foundation begins with an initial Letter of Interest, and if invited, is followed by a full proposal.

Jenny Jones Community Grant Program

Deadline: Throughout the Year
Jenny's Heroes community grant program will donate $1 million during 2009. The program provides grants of up to $25,000 each to fund projects that promise long-term community benefits. The program's focus is primarily on smaller communities where fundraising can be difficult.
